All that glitters is not gold
Amplification: Gold is
a precious metal. Anything like gold may not be precious. It may glitter, but
it may not be as valuable as gold. Similarly, we cannot judge a man by his
outward look. Because surface appearance may be deceptive and false. Gold will
always glitter. It is a natural feature of gold. But anything that glitters
like gold may not be gold at all. Brass glitters if we polish it. Beautiful ornaments
may be made with brass. But in due course of time, it will become faded .Similarly,
we should not like a man or woman by their outward beauty. Rather, we should
consider their mental beauty. A beautiful woman or a handsome man may be ugly
in mind. But we tend to do otherwise. Consequently we pay the price. The world
is full of virtuous and cheats .A
villain may look like a saint. A fool may pretend to be an wise man. A cruel man
may disguise himself as a kind man. So we should judge a thing or a man
considering their merits. The surface appearance does not reflect inner values.
So we can say that all that glitters is not gold.
