Amplification: Act well your part,
there all the honor lies
Or, Honor and shame from no
condition rise
Man usually feels proud
of high birth and position. They feel humiliated to be born in a poor family. But we should not
think in this way. We should be proud of our good deeds. We should feel ashamed
to do evil. Birth is a matter of chance. We do not have any influence on it. So
it is unnecessary to feel proud or ashamed of our birth and position. Moreover,
poverty is not a crime. Again, high position or riches is not a virtue. The
poor and the rich have their respective duties in life. They should contribute
to society from their own position. We cannot blame a poor man if he does his duty earnestly.
Again, we cannot blame a rich man if he performs his duties well. But we can blame the poor or
the rich if they do not execute their own duties. A poor and humble man is
worthy of respect if he does his duties sincerely. Being a poor man, he can act
for society and may lead an honest life. On the other hand, a rich and noble
man covers himself with shame if he lives a sinful , immoral and corrupted
life. So we can say that honor lies not in riches and high birth. Honor
increases in doing good deeds.
