                                               Newspaper



Newspaper is a printed mental breakfast along with morning cup of tea. Newspaper and magazine play important role in means of communication. It provides us information collected from around the globe daily. It contains news ,advertisement and articles on various subject. They take the role of spokesmen for people of all classes . It has a great social and educational value. So it is also called as ‘peoples university‘.



On one hand ,they acts as a bridge between the government and public. They help in preventing social exploitation. In other words, developing countries like Bangladesh has lots of poor and illiterate people. The selfish motives of politicians may deceive the poor and illiterates with false promises. The newspaper helps in spreading public opinions. They help the people aware about the activities and corruption in the present. It helps in fighting against the menace of corruption. Its one of the roles of the newspaper to make the public aware of practices prevalent in various departments of government and other agencies.

Businessmen read newspapers and gather information's about trade and commerce in the country and abroad. Students and teachers come closer to each other through newspaper. Newspaper serves as a means of teaching and learning. Politicians find newspapers very useful for conveying their political vie to the masses. 

Newspapers should be free from bias and partiality. They should not try to satisfy the political party in power. Newspapers should act as a strong opposition to strengthen democracy. Very often, true and honest reporters are tortured, insulted, terrorized and often killed by antisocial. Newspapers are often set to fire before they reach the readers.

Editors are bribed to write the wrong thing. Some politicians vomit their rage against some newspapers which expose their dishonesty. They try to close that newspaper and encourage another newspaper which will be conducive to their interest. At any cost, the editor of a newspaper must be honest and impartial. Freedom of the press is greatly essential.

In Bangladesh there are many newspapers today. The Daily Prothom Alo, the daily Jugantor, the Sangbad, the Daily Azadi etc. are some of the are published daily. People also read English newspapers such as the daily Star, the Bangladesh Observer, the Independent, the Diplomat, the Telegraph, and the Asian Age etc. 

Some newspapers have morning edition and evening edition. Sometimes, a particular newspaper is published simultaneously in different parts of the country. Today newspapers are appreciated for the news about sports and films, news about share markets, matrimonial and opportunities.

              Physical Exercise

Physical Exercise is very important for proper health and fitness. Physical exercises are necessary for every citizen of the country.

The youths are choosing to eat junk foods.  It spoils the health of the youth people. They look old before time. Their poor health is a social problem. People without good health cannot enjoy life. We cannot have a strong nation if the citizens have no good health.

Man is superior to animals because he has a developed mind. He controls the animals with his intellect. But we cannot have mental growth if our body is weak and sickly. The death of body means the death of the mind also. ‘A sound mind is in a sound body’ is a popular saying. So, physical exercises are very necessary for mental health. A sickly man cannot sit well. He cannot do his work properly.

Bangladesh earned her freedom after great sacrifices. We have to protect her freedom. We have to make our defenses strong. The citizens of our country must be physically fit and healthy. Only then they can defend the country’s freedom. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman once said, ‘every child of Bangladesh shall have to be a soldier of freedom’.
Exercising the body is one way of keeping it healthy. If we do not exercise then our muscles become weaker and we are less able to do things properly. Also the bones can become weaker and thus break easily.
There are many types of exercises that we may participate in. We may play badminton, football, netball or whatever games that we prefer. We may also jog, walk, swim or climb a mountain. Older folks prefer less strenuous exercises like Tai Chi, Yoga or a leisurely stroll in the park. For the really fit young people, there are rock-climbing, gymnastics and other physically demanding activities.
We exercise to keep the body healthy. However there are some who overdo things and end up injuring themselves. It is fine to jog for a few kilometers. It is madness to jog until we are exhausted. Also they are people who become addicted to their exercises. They become unhappy when they are unable to exercise or when they lose to someone in a competition.
Physical exercises make us healthy. They make us good citizens. Life without good health is no life at all. If we spend an hour in taking physical exercises, we can work hard for the rest of the day. Thus physical exercises are of great use to us. They should be made compulsory for students, teachers and office-goers.
