Grasp All, Lose All
Once upon a time, a
greedy dog stole a piece of meat from a nearby house, and holding it in his
mouth, he began to cross the river over a narrow bridge. While crossing the
bridge, it discovered an image in the water and saw another dog carrying a piece
of meat in its mouth. As he was greedy, he wanted to have the other piece of
the meat. The dog stopped on the bridge and looked own very carefully. He
became greedy to get the other piece of meat. In fact, he saw his own image in
the clear water of the canal and he took it for another dog. So he howled at
the image. Instantly the piece of meat
fell into the water. "The dog But alas! He failed to get it. He somehow
swam to the other bank His sorrows knew no bounds.
Failures are but Pillars of Success
Robert Bruce, king of
Scotland, fought several battles to regain his country’s freedom but he failed.
He lost his hope and took shelter in a remote cave. One day when he was lying
in the cave, he was brooding over his misfortune. Suddenly, he noticed a spider
tiring to reach the ceiling with the help of Its silken thread to complete the
cobweb. The spider tried again and again to go up but dropped down every time.
Six attempts made by the spider failed one after another. But still It did not
give up the struggle and went' on trying. Bruce observed the spider with keen
interest and saw that the seventh attempt of the spider succeeded. The
perseverance of the spider encouraged Bruce. He saw a ray of hope and with new
hope, he brought together his scattered forces and faced his enemies once more
With renewed energy. This time, ne gathered his army, prevailed over his
enemies and succeeded in defeating them.
