Change the following passage into
indirect speech.
1. "Hold your tongues!" he muttered on
fiercely. "Have you not read the warning on the door?" ''Have you
pray for Allah's pardon," cried the dervishes. "Our lives are at your
mercy.
Ans: He muttered on fiercely to hold their tongues
and asked if they had not read the warning on the door. The dervishes cried
that they prayed for Allah's pardon and added that their lives were his mercy.
2. "How dare you wake me up?" The lion
roared, "I shall kill you for that." "Please let me go," t
mouse cried, "1 did not mean to wake you up.
Ans : The lion roared and asked how he dared wake
him up and said that he would kill him for the mouse cried and requested him to
let him go. It further said that he had not meant to wake him up.
3. "Is she
sick?" "Yes, a little bit?" "What's she doing now?"
"She is trying to sleep now." ''Would y give the news that I have
come to visit her"? "Yes, I'll." "Thank you.
4. Ans: The speaker asked if she (the person spoken to)
was sick and the listener replied in
affirmative and said that she was sick a little bit. The speaker asked
what she was doing the listener replied that she was trying to sleep then. The
speaker asked if she would give news that he had gone to visit her. The
listener replied in the affirmative and said that she would do. The speaker
thanked her.
