The name of the city
where I live is Dhaka. It is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is
also the 3rd most densely populated city in the world. It lies along the east
bank of the Buriganga River. It was declared as the legislative capital of
Pakistan in 1962. In 1971, it became the capital of an independent Bangladesh. During
the Mughal Period , it was named after as Jahangir Nagar by subedar Islam Khan
.There are two city corporation in Dhaka City. One is Dhaka North City
Corporation and the other is Dhaka South City Corporation. There are many lakes
and parks in Dhaka. Such as - Crescent lake, Dhanmondi lake, Baridhara-Gulshan
lake, Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan,Chandrima Udyan etc. There are also different
kinds of Museum , National Parliament, Universities and so on. Hatirjheel-Begunbari, which was once a
slum area, has turned into a new place of recreation for city dwellers.
Now it is an amazing place for recreation. In Dhaka City tere are also head-
quarters of different government and non-government organizations. It is really
a nice city to live with many facilities. I never want to abandon this city. I
love her very much.
